Monetize an existing API for agents

Keep the function. Add a schema, a 402, a price cap, and discovery that matches live behaviour.

Most APIs already do useful work. Agents cannot buy them until the contract is frozen and the unpaid path is a challenge rather than a surprise invoice.

  • Keep the existing function. Do not wrap a scrape as a new product.
  • Freeze JSON in and JSON out.
  • Challenge before side effects.
  • Advertise the same price the 402 actually charges.
  • Publish OpenAPI, .well-known/x402.json, or MCP tools/list — whichever the buyer can parse.

MCP can list the tool. x402 or MPP can charge for the call. They are complements, not synonyms.
