zFinia relaunches as machine-economy intelligence

September 2026 is when this publication’s public brand catches up to the market it is covering. Finance-app positioning is cancelled. The archive is retrospective and dated honestly.

zFinia becomes the public intelligence brand for the machine economy

On 7 September 2026 the operator cancelled public investment in the zFinia personal-finance app and repositioned zFinia as a media, data and intelligence company for the machine economy. Foundry remains the private engine. This record is first-party and is not independent market evidence.

Foundry CSV Profile remains a live x402 experiment, not independent revenue

Foundry’s advertised x402 estate on Base mainnet includes CSV Profile and related deterministic utilities. Merchant-index observations can show listings and quality fields. Independent revenue remains US$0.000 unless a durable ledger proves otherwise. Historical owner tests are excluded.

Discovery and conformance start to matter more than net-new protocols

By late summer 2026 the bottleneck for machine sellers was less “is there a protocol?” and more “can a buyer complete discover → 402 → pay → retry → verify?” Schema-invalid challenges and stale indexes were the practical failures.

Paid MCP becomes an explicit product category

Cloudflare’s gateway language treated MCP tools as chargeable resources beside APIs and pages. Paid MCP moved from hallway conversation to product marketing. It is still not a core MCP spec feature.

Paid MCP is still an overlay, not a core MCP feature

MCP specifies how tools are described and invoked. It does not specify settlement. Cloudflare’s gateway, x402 challenge-handoff and MPP all propose to hang payment on the same tool call. Until the MCP spec itself names a payment profile, “paid MCP” remains a market category, not a single standard.

Cloudflare Monetization Gateway puts x402 on any edge-protected resource

Cloudflare announced a Monetization Gateway waitlist: customers can charge for any Cloudflare-protected asset, with verification at the edge. Launch settlement is described as stablecoins over x402, with work through the x402 Foundation. The post frames per-seat SaaS as a poor fit for one-shot agent requests.

Edge networks become payment enforcers

Contemporaneous reporting described large CDN/edge vendors attaching 402 enforcement to existing traffic. Primary-source confirmation varies by vendor; zFinia records Cloudflare’s own posts as TIER_A and third-party CDN claims as weaker until official docs exist.

x402’s first anniversary: protocol real, independent demand still scarce

A year after Coinbase’s launch, SDKs, facilitators and edge vendors existed. Public independent payer proof for most sellers remained thin. Listing count is not demand.

Governance talk around x402 intensifies

Multi-vendor foundation language appeared in major infrastructure blogs. zFinia treats that as a governance story to verify against primary foundation documents, not as completed decentralization.
